Admissions

All applicants for admission need to:

1) Complete an application, and submit the $50 application fee.

2) Have two letters of recommendation from professors familiar with your academic work,or from professional supervisors or colleagues who are familiar with your professional work mailed to the Seminary. One of the letters of recommendation must be from your current Buddhist teacher. If you do not have a current teacher, please contact Five Mountain directly.

3) Provide a writing sample. This should be a 300-500 word essay that describes how your program at the Seminary will further your personal goals.

Letters of recommendation and writing sample can be uploaded directly to our site through the application form, or may be e-mailed to enrollment@five-mountain.org - please be certain your full name is included in the subject line of each submission so that your files may be included with your application.

Once Five Mountain receives the application, fee, writing sample, and letters of recommendation, your application will go to the Admissions Committee and you will be contacted to confirm that we have received all materials.

Five Mountain Buddhist Seminary welcomes all adult Learners, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, disability, gender, age, sexual orientation nor in any other way in any of its policies, practices, or procedures involving applicants, Learners, Faculty Mentors, staff, and the public. 5MBS reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone the seminary believes does not meet its academic standards.
